An insulin syringe is a small syringe with a fine, short needle fixed to it and a barrel marked in units, one hundred to the millilitre on the standard U-100. It is sold in boxes at every major pharmacy chain in the Philippines, over the counter, because people with diabetes use several a day. Alcohol swabs come in boxes beside them. A sharps container is a rigid, lidded container for used needles; pharmacies sell purpose-made ones, and a thick plastic bottle with a screw cap does the same job.

At the counter, say: insulin syringes, U-100, one millilitre, needle attached, one box; alcohol swabs, one box. If they ask the gauge, 29 to 31 is the usual range and any of them is fine. Do I need a prescription for syringes?
Insulin syringes are sold over the counter at Philippine pharmacies. The retailer pages fetched for this list did not require one; check the listing on the day.
Which gauge?
The 29 to 31 gauge needles that come attached to insulin syringes are all fine. Thinner is a higher number and feels like less; any of them works.
The 0.5 ml syringe: is it different?
Same U-100 scale, shorter barrel, finer marks. The same dose reads the same units. Useful for small draws; the unit converter shows it.
What do I do with used syringes?
Into a rigid, lidded container, never loose in a bin. Purpose-made sharps containers are sold at pharmacies; a thick bottle with a screw cap is the household alternative. Ask your barangay or building about disposal.
How many do I need?
